Terms
Last updated 15 October 2026
The short version: your data is yours, the service is in beta, and STC is a record-keeper, not an accountant.
What these cover
These terms cover the hosted STC service: the web app at app.sole-traders.uk and the server at db.sole-traders.uk. If you run the STC server yourself, the software is yours to use under the AGPLv3 licence and these terms don't apply to your server.
The service is in beta
STC is still being built. Features will change, things will sometimes break, and the service may be unavailable at times. It is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be error-free or always available.
Your data
What you put into STC belongs to you. It is stored only to run the service for you, and it is never sold or shared. You can export it at any time, and you can ask for your account and everything in it to be deleted. Keep your own exports as well: during the beta you should not rely on the hosted service as your only copy.
Not tax or financial advice
STC adds up the figures you enter. It does not check them and it is not tax, accounting or financial advice. You are responsible for what you report to HMRC. If you are unsure, ask an accountant.
Using it fairly
Don't use the hosted service for anything illegal, don't try to get into other people's accounts or data, and don't put a load on the server that gets in the way of everyone else. Accounts that do may be suspended.
Liability
As far as the law allows, STC is not liable for lost profits, lost data or any indirect loss from using the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
These terms may change as the service does. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Carrying on using the service after a change means you accept the new version.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
